Twierdza Königstein

** Königstein Fortress** is an impressive fortress located on a 9.5-acre rock plateau rising 240 meters above the Elbe River in Saxony.

This historical gem with a fortress wall 1,800 meters long and up to 42 meters high impresses with more than 50 buildings, some of which are more than 400 years old.

Visitors can admire the second deepest well in Europe (152.5 meters), as well as interactive exhibitions recounting the rich history of the fortress, which has served as a monastery, state prison and even a hunting palace and art storage facility.
