Description
The Palatine Garden is a Baroque marvel, once considered the 'Eighth Wonder of the World'. Designed in 1614 for Frederick V and his wife Elizabeth Stuart, it impresses with its L-shaped geometric terraces.
The terraces offer breathtaking views of the castle, the Rhine valley and the surrounding mountains. The garden is famous for its ornamental flowerbeds, labyrinths, pergolas and exotic plants.
The most fascinating feature is the large grotto in the southeast corner, decorated with stones, shells and corals, with intriguing water installations. The whole is complemented by sculptures of historical figures, including Frederick V and Neptune.
