Falkenstein Castle Ruins is a fascinating monument of medieval architecture, located on a hard-to-reach rocky cliff in Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald.
The castle ruins rise on four levels: the lower courtyard, the moat, the middle courtyard and the upper courtyard. The preserved remains of the walls attest to the former power of the structure, although it is one of the less preserved ruins in the Breisgau region.
The site is quite a treat for history buffs and adventurers. The castle can be viewed from the premium hiking trail 'Nat'Our-Route 4 - Ourtalschleife' in the NaturWanderPark Delux.
