Description

Burg Hohengeroldseck is a fascinating 13th century castle ruin that hides a turbulent history. Founded in 1260, it was the seat of the Lords of Geroldseck before being destroyed by French soldiers in 1688.

Today you can explore the surviving Gothic and Renaissance architectural features, including the main building and exterior walls. A special 'Geroldsecker Castle Path' themed trail with 9 educational stations and wooden sculptures of knights allows you to be transported back to medieval times.

It is the perfect place for a family trip combined with a beautiful walk through the Black Forest.
