Description
St. Nicholas Tower is one of the four original defensive towers of Görlitz's medieval fortifications, dating back to 1348.
A distinctive Baroque helmet with a gallery supported by eight columns replaced the original Gothic spire, giving the tower a unique appearance.
There are fascinating stories associated with the tower - in 1586 a lightning bolt killed the tower's keeper, and the structure survived fires in 1399, 1642 and 1717.
Today it serves as a lookout point and exhibition space, offering an unforgettable experience for history and architecture lovers.
