Description
Pont des Lions is a historic Roman bridge in Arles that impresses with its historic architecture and beautiful stone lion sculptures. This unique monument of Roman engineering dates back to the Augustinian period and is decorated with impressive triumphal arches.
The bridge has survived numerous historical events, including destruction during World War II, when it was damaged by a German tank and an American truck. Today, after careful restoration, it serves pedestrians only, offering an excellent starting point for exploring other Arles attractions.
It's a place that even inspired Van Gogh to create one of his works.
