Description
The Trémaïé Chapel and Rock is a unique historical monument located at the foot of the rocky protrusion on which Les Baux-de-Provence castle rises. The site is famous for the ancient tomb stelae of Trémaïé and Gaïe, interpreted as a representation of the Three Maries who, according to legend, visited Provence in the 1st century AD.
Surrounded by the picturesque Alpilles hills, the chapel is an excellent bird-watching spot, especially in winter when they migrate to these rocks. The 1.8-kilometer Chemin des Trémaïé trail allows you to discover the charming corners of the site, including the famous Black Madonna of Baux-de-Provence.
