Description
Salle du Corps de Garde is a historic building dating back to 1575, a true gem of Renaissance architecture in the heart of Colmar.
It is distinguished by a magnificently carved loggia dating from 1577-1582, decorated with palmettes, coats of arms and grotesque masks. It once served as a chapel, later as an arsenal and town hall, and from its loggia magistrates announced sentences and judgments.
The main portal is supported by Tuscan columns, decorated with lion heads and a bust medallion. It is a fascinating witness to history that will delight any lover of architecture and culture.
