Description
Église Abbatiale Saint Sauveur à Figeac is one of the oldest and most important monuments in Figeac, founded in 838 by the Benedictines of Conques.
The church impresses with its mix of Romanesque and Gothic styles, with a nave dating back to the 11th-12th centuries, a transept and choir from the 13th century, and side chapels from the 14th century.
In the Middle Ages it was an important pilgrimage site, where the relics of St. Vivien were kept. Today you can admire the magnificent Romanesque capitals, the 13th century Chapter Hall and the beautiful stained glass windows.
