Parc national du Mercantour

Parc national du Mercantour is the youngest of France's seven national parks, established in 1979. It stretches over 68,500 hectares and offers extraordinary landscapes with three-thousand-metre peaks, deep valleys and rich flora and fauna.

The park is famous for its 600 kilometers of marked hiking trails that lead through scenic areas and archaeological treasures, such as the Vallée des Merveilles with more than 30,000 prehistoric cave paintings. It's a nature lover's paradise where you can spot deer, chamois, eagles and even wolves.

For adventurers, the park also offers cycling, rafting and skiing.
