Description
Chateau du Landsberg is a fascinating 12th century castle located on a granite hill in Alsace. Built between 1197 and 1200 by Conrad de Landsberg, it served as a defense for the surrounding abbeys.
The ruins offer a unique historical experience with a Romanesque palace, a square tower and a unique bay window in the castle chapel.
A scenic hiking trail (7 km) leads to the castle, running through vineyards and dense forests, providing spectacular views of the Vosges Mountains. Restoration and excavation work is currently underway, adding to the site's special charm of archaeological adventure.
