Description
Château de Saint-Ulrich is one of three castles towering over Ribeauvillé, France. Located at an altitude of 528 meters, this medieval gem was the main seat of the powerful lords of Ribeaupierre from the 11th to the 16th century.
The castle impresses with its mix of architectural styles - Gothic, Renaissance and Romanesque. Its walls offer breathtaking views of Alsatian vineyards and mountains.
The site is shrouded in legend of two Ribeaupierre brothers who woke each other up by shooting crossbows at the shutters - until the tragic finale, when the older brother died and the younger brother's ghost is said to still haunt the ruins.
