Description
Eglise Notre-Dame-de-Belvézet is an enchanting Romanesque chapel dating back to the 12th century, located on a rocky hill in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. It is part of the Fort Saint-André complex and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
The chapel served as the parish church for the residents of Saint-André until 1293, when the Saint-Pons church was built in the new town founded by King Philippe IV the Beautiful.
Its architecture, with its distinctive cradle vault and semicircular apse, is an excellent example of medieval building craftsmanship. It is the perfect place for history and architecture lovers.
