Description
Batterie La Courte is a fascinating military monument located in picturesque Val-Cenis. Built between 1905 and 1910, this Italian fortification is an exceptional example of early 20th century military engineering.
Despite its destruction by the French army in 1945, the ruins of the battery continue to impress with its unique construction with an armored dome resembling a tortoise shell and a system of four 149mm cannons housed in underground shafts.
Located at an altitude of 2,098 meters, the site offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, making it a must-see for lovers of history and beautiful landscapes.
