Ye Olde Fighting Cocks

Ye Olde Fighting Cocks is one of the oldest pubs in Britain, dating back to the 8th century. The current building dates back to the 11th century and impresses with its octagonal shape, a remnant of its original use as a dovecote.

The interior, with its low ceilings, cozy nooks and crannies and original bread oven, creates a unique atmosphere. According to local legends, tunnels lead from the pub's basement to St. Albans Cathedral, once used by monks.
