Description
Coconut Palace is an architectural marvel with 70% of its materials coming from the coconut palm. Inspired by the shape of a coconut shell, this octagonal building impresses with a 101-coconut chandelier and a table made from 40,000 pieces of coconut shell.
The palace, built under Imelda Marcos, is a fascinating example of Filipino ingenuity and abundance of local materials. The coconut wood columns, known as Imelda Madera, are shaped exactly like living coconut palms - from roots to branches.
It's a place with a controversial history that combines the splendor and cultural heritage of the Philippines.
