Description
The North Bohemian Museum is one of the largest museums in the Czech Republic, founded in 1873 as the first museum of applied arts in the Czech lands. The building, with its captivating architecture combining medieval and early modern elements, houses more than 500,000 exhibits.
Visitors can enjoy a chronologically arranged display of applied art, a fascinating exhibition of the nature of the Liberec region and unique mechanical jukeboxes. A real gem is Jáchym Metelka's moving nativity scene with 250 wooden figures.
The museum tower (41 meters, 174 steps) offers a magnificent view of the city, and a video mapping show presents the history of glass.
