Zamek w Śląskiej Ostrawie

Silesian Ostrava Castle is a fascinating journey back in time, dating back to the 13th century. This historical gem originally guarded the trade route from Opava to Cieszyn and Krakow.

In the 16th century, the castle underwent an impressive Renaissance metamorphosis thanks to Jan Sedlnicki, gaining a new gate, chapel, knight's hall and bastion. The interiors were then decorated with frescoes by Bernard of Silesian Ostrava.

Despite its turbulent history, including numerous destructions during the Thirty Years' War, today the castle is a unique testimony to the region's past and a must-see for lovers of architecture and history.
