Description
The Paphos Town Hall is a neoclassical building that is an architectural gem of the city. Designed by Cypriot architect Andreas Christodoulides and built in 1959, it is inspired by the style of the Parthenon.
The facade of the City Hall is distinguished by a square Doric vestibule, and the building itself is shaped like the Greek letter Π. It is part of a larger complex that also includes other neoclassical structures, such as the Nicholadio Gymnasium and the Paphos Municipal Library.
This site reflects the transformation of Paphos from a rural community to an urban center during English domination.
