Cuvilliéstheater

Cuvilliéstheater is a gem of Rococo architecture in the heart of Munich. Designed by François de Cuvilliés the Elder, this unique theater impresses with its rich ornamentation, intricate balconies and elaborate interior design by Johann Baptist Straub.

Opened in 1753, it survived the devastation of World War II thanks to careful restoration. It was here that Mozart's opera 'Idomeneo' premiered in 1781.
