Description
Catedral de San Cristóbal de La Habana is a jewel of Baroque architecture in the heart of Old Havana.
This majestic temple, built between 1748 and 1777, impresses with its theatrical facade and two uneven towers. The interior is decorated with neoclassical frescoes and works by such masters as Murillo and Rubens.
It is interesting to note that for more than a century (1796-1898) the cathedral was the resting place of the remains of Christopher Columbus, before they were moved to Seville.
It is an ideal destination for lovers of Cuban history, architecture and culture.
