Description
Mural of Prehistory is a monumental work of art painted directly onto limestone rock in the Viñales Valley—120 meters wide and 180 meters long of pure artistic audacity!
Created in the 1960s by a student of Diego Rivera, it depicts the evolution of Cuba: from prehistoric mollusks and dinosaurs to the indigenous Taíno people. The psychedelic colors against the backdrop of green mogotes create a view that delights some and shocks others - but leaves no one indifferent. It is a combination of art, history, and nature in a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
