Description
Plaza Mayor is the historic heart of Trinidad, Cuba, listed by UNESCO in 1988. This charming square is surrounded by magnificent 18th and 19th century buildings showcasing Spanish colonial architecture.
As you stroll along the cobblestone streets, you can admire the picturesque gardens, ornate lanterns and sculptures of English greyhounds. The dominant landmark is the Iglesia Parroquial church, completed in 1892, with a beautiful wooden altar and a statue of Señor de la Vera Cruz from 1731.
It's the perfect place to immerse yourself in Cuba's colonial history and feel the atmosphere of the old days when Trinidad prospered through the sugar trade.
