Badija island

Badija island is a picturesque island located near Korčula, covered with Mediterranean vegetation and fragrant pine forests.

This place is famous for its 14th-century Franciscan monastery with unique Gothic architecture and the friendly fawn deer that roam freely on the island.

Every year on August 2, a unique cultural event takes place here - a procession of boats carrying the image of the Virgin Mary from Korčula to the church on Badija, commemorating the legend of the powerful gale that destroyed Turkish galleys and saved Korčula from invaders.
