Description
Corsignano is an exceptional church dating back to the 7th century, which impresses with its Romanesque architecture and rich history. Its cylindrical bell tower with Ravenian influences draws the eye from afar.
The interior of the church, though austere, creates a mystical atmosphere ideal for contemplation. The most valuable treasure is the original baptismal font, in which two popes were baptized: Pius II and his nephew Pius III.
The facades are decorated with Lombard influences, including bifors and intriguing sculptures, such as the two-tailed mermaid above the main entrance and the birth scene on the south door.
