Market Dolac

Market Dolac is the vibrant heart of Zagreb, known for its distinctive red umbrellas. This traditional market is divided into two parts: an open-air upper square and an indoor market below.

It's a veritable treasure trove of local delicacies - from fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and fish, to traditional Croatian cheeses and cream (sir and vrhnje). Local honey, olive oil and handicrafts are especially worth noting.

The market features a statue of a kumica - a tribute to the rural women who have been selling their products here for centuries. On Saturday mornings, you can also come across spontaneous fashion shows, called špica.
