Description
Daojie Dujiangyan is a unique national park that is part of the Dujiangyan Irrigation System - the world's oldest working irrigation system without a dam. Built in 256 BC, it is a true marvel of ancient engineering, listed by UNESCO in 2000.
The system uses the natural terrain and hydrological features of the Minjiang River to irrigate more than 668,700 hectares of farmland, making the Chengdu Plain one of the most productive agricultural regions in China.
Nearby is Qingcheng Mountain, the birthplace of Daoism, offering scenic views, and Dujiangyan Panda Base, where you can learn about the endangered giant panda.
