Chengdu Museum

Chengdu Museum is the largest municipal museum in southwest China, recognized as a first-class national museum. Established in 1958, it has nearly 300,000 historical exhibits, including unique shadow theater puppets, works of painting and calligraphy, and artifacts from the Neolithic period to the Republic of China.

The museum offers three permanent exhibitions: 'The Thrive of Brocade City,' 'Shadow Theater and Puppetry of China' and 'Man and Nature.' Interactive exhibitions with multimedia elements, mock-ups and reconstructions of scenes from the lives of the ancient Shu peoples will delight history buffs and families with children alike.
