Wielki Budda z Leshan

The Great Buddha of Leshan is a monumental statue carved into the rock, which is the largest stone Buddha in the world. Measuring 71 meters in height, this imposing sculpture was created in the 8th century by a Haitong monk who believed it would calm the troubled waters of three rivers converging at the site.

According to local legends, the Buddha's presence actually calmed the dangerous currents, protecting river travelers. Today, this majestic statue is not only a testament to the engineering craftsmanship of the Tang Dynasty, but also an important Buddhist pilgrimage site.
