Description
Chengdu Wu Hou Shrine (Southwest Gate) is a unique historical monument dedicated to the legendary strategist Zhuge Liang and his ruler Liu Bei of the Three Kingdoms period (220-280 AD).
Originally built in 223 AD, the temple underwent significant reconstructions during the Qing Dynasty, while retaining elements from earlier eras.
It is China's only common burial temple for a king and his minister, containing more than 50 clay figures of figures from the Three Kingdoms era. The site gained notoriety for the classic novel 'A Tale of Three Kingdoms,' becoming an object of pilgrimage for lovers of literature and history.
