Ping'an Theater

Ping'an Theater is a historic building in Guangzhou that combines a rich past with a modern use of space. Built in 1925, it originally served as a Spanish consulate and was converted into a movie theater in 1939.

The building impresses with its monumental red brick facade with Art Deco elements, reminiscent of the Capitol Building on the Bund. Although the cinema closed in 2005, its architectural beauty continues to attract history and culture lovers.

Today, the building serves a residential function with numerous stores on the first floor, providing a fascinating example of the evolution of an urban space.
