Description
Charnley-Persky House Museum is a jewel of Chicago architecture, designed by the masters Louis Sullivan and his student Frank Lloyd Wright. Dating from 1891-1892, this national monument is a milestone in the development of modern American architecture.
The interior impresses with its combination of hand-crafted ornamentation and geometric forms. The six fireplaces present a fascinating contrast between the architects' designs and the catalog elements of the era.
The third floor conceals the former servants' quarters, accessible via a separate staircase with lockable doors - an interesting glimpse into late 19th century social life.
