Description
Cathédrale Saint-Pierre is a jewel of Gothic and Renaissance architecture in the heart of Annecy.
Originally a chapel of the Cordelier monastery, it was built between 1535 and 1538 and became a refuge for Catholics expelled from Geneva after the Protestant Reformation. It was converted into a cathedral in 1822.
The interior is stunning with beautiful stained glass windows that filter the light to create a kaleidoscope of colors. The historic 1842 organ, weighing several tons, is classified as a historical monument. The modest bell tower houses two bells, the largest of which weighs three tons.
