Description
Castello Carlo V is an impressive 16th century fortress, built at the behest of Emperor Charles V for protection against Ottoman invasions and pirates.
This Renaissance building of square plan with powerful bastions impresses with its defensive architecture made of local limestone. Inside, you can admire the former barracks, warehouses and armories, as well as a courtyard that served as a training ground for soldiers.
The castle's walls offer a breathtaking view of the Adriatic Sea, especially picturesque at sunset.
