Càrnach (Atlantic Hazelwoods)

Càrnach (Atlantic Hazelwoods) is a unique hazelwood ecosystem that is part of the 'Scottish rainforest'. This unique natural area impresses with its biodiversity and abundance of rare species of mosses, lichens and fungi that are difficult to find elsewhere in Europe.

As you hike through this picturesque area, you can admire flowering anemones, bluebells and other forest plants, and observe local fauna, including woodpeckers, tits and martens.

The area is also of archaeological interest - prehistoric hut circles and the remains of 17th and 18th century settlements can be discovered here.
