Description
Al Alawi House is a fascinating historical monument in Bahrain, built in the 1930s by merchant Mahmoud Muhammad Al Alawi.
This two-story building is notable for its functioning wind tower - one of only two surviving in Muharraq.
The house is part of the UNESCO-listed Pearl Route and perfectly illustrates the wealth resulting from the pearl industry. Its interiors feature rooms reflecting the daily lives of pearl merchants, as well as displays of diving equipment and other artifacts related to this traditional industry.
