Description
The Cocoda Track Memorial Walk is a unique 1.8 km long trail, also known as the '1000 Steps Walk'. The path was created to commemorate Australian soldiers who fought in Papua New Guinea during World War II.
The steep climb amidst the lush vegetation of the rainforest provides not only a physical challenge, but also a history lesson, with bronze plaques along the route telling of the courage and hardships experienced by the soldiers.
Once you reach the top, you can enjoy beautiful views of Melbourne through the treetops. The return is via the two-way Lyrebird Track.
