Description
Lake Eyre National Park is Australia's largest salt lake, located 15.2 meters below sea level. This unique natural wonder fills with water on average every eight years, turning into a vibrant ecosystem.
When the lake is flooded, it becomes home to thousands of waterbirds, including pelicans, silver gulls and many other species. The surrounding flood plains are then covered with wildflowers, creating a spectacular sight.
The site also has a rich Aboriginal heritage with numerous significant sites and artifacts.
