South Melbourne Market is Melbourne's oldest continuously operating market, established in 1867. The place is bustling with nearly 150 stalls run by local entrepreneurs offering fresh produce, delicious food and handicrafts.

The market has undergone significant upgrades, including the installation of electric lighting in 1924 and the addition of a multi-purpose roof in 2012, which not only keeps out the rain, but also collects rainwater and generates solar power.

Known as the 'people's market', the venue emphasizes community values, sustainability and inclusion, supporting local farmers, artisans and indigenous creators.
