Description
Teaser Southern Cross Station is a historic tea house housed in a historic building dating from 1887 to 1888. It was originally used as a warehouse for the Fergus and Mitchell Company and later for the Robur Tea Company to store tea chests.
The site impresses with its unique industrial architecture with innovative steel floor beams - some of the oldest in Victoria. The building stands on 450 ironbark timber piles and concrete slabs designed specifically for the waterlogged site.
It is one of the few surviving examples of 19th century industrial architecture in Melbourne, offering not only tea tasting, but also a journey back in time.
