Description
The Archcathedral of St. Peter and St. George in Bamberg is one of the most important religious monuments in Germany, combining Romanesque and Gothic styles.
Its distinctive silhouette with four towers dominates the city skyline. It is the only resting place of a pope (Clement II) north of the Alps and home to the famous Bamberg Horseman, one of the oldest surviving horse sculptures.
The interior impresses with Gothic elements of the main altar, intricate carvings and rich decorations. For lovers of history, architecture and art, this is a must-see during a visit to Bamberg.
