Description
Ahu Akahanga is a fascinating historical monument on Easter Island, also known as the 'King's Platform'. It is one of the most important ceremonial complexes on the island, where, according to legend, the first Rapa Nui king was buried.
The distinctive stone platforms with moai (monumental statues) create a remarkable backdrop against the Pacific Ocean. The site impresses with its authenticity - many of the statues lie overturned, exactly as they were left after ancient tribal conflicts.
It's a great spot to learn about the mysterious Rapa Nui culture and take amazing photos.
